In conjunction with the week of actions planned around the beginning of the fourth year of the Iraq war, Civil Resist Portland is circulating a petition urging Senator Ron Wyden to introduce legislation based on a five-point plan for peace in Iraq. Although there are several bills pending in the House, no serious plan for ending the war has been introduced in the Senate. The petition lets Senator Wyden know that we will not let our voices go unheard and will take direct nonviolent action if necessary to persuade him to take a leadership role on this issue.
Join the Call now. Sign the petition at: www.petitiononline.com/wyden/petition.html Then,
email it to everyone you know and ask them to do the same.

Pink Portland is collecting goods for survivors of Hurricane Katrina!
As many of you know, three buses left Camp Casey in
Crawford, Texas at the end of the vigil and headed out on the
"Bring Them Home Now" bus tour. One of those buses ended up in
Covington Louisiana and has set up a new camp there. Most of the
people on that bus are members of Veterans for Peace. They are
staying there and providing that community with much needed relief.
Since Code Pink has been deeply involved with Cindy Sheehan's
vigil in Crawford, we thought it would be fitting to continue
our support of the Camp Casey Alumni. Items that have been requested
are as follows:
• Water
• Canned Goods
• Baby Supplies - Baby Food Formula, diapers #4, #5, Wipes,
Pedialyte
• Hygiene Supplies
• Adult Depends
• Sterile Gloves
• Electrolytes
NOTE: Thanks to your generous contributions, adult clothing
is no longer needed. Please - no old or dirty items.
Think about what you are sending. The temperature there is in
the high 90s. Most of the people being helped have medical needs,
as the hospital there is only taking patients on life support.
Donations can be delivered to 4303 N. Albina Ave., Portland. Nearest
cross streets are Mississippi and Skidmore. Leave your items on
the back porch. Or mail them to:
